Campground Review: Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in Disney World, Florida

On this episode of Campground of the Week, we are reviewing what may be America’s favorite campground of all time: Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in Disney World, Florida.

After camping at Fort Wilderness, we can honestly say that it has earned every bit of it’s stellar reputation. Simply put, we will never stay anywhere else on return trips to Disney World.

If you are planning a trip to Disney World, one of the most important things to know is that Fort Wilderness is considered a Disney Resort property, which means that you will enjoy the benefits of staying ‘on property’: early dining reservations, early Fast Pass booking, and access to daily extra Magic Hours. You will also have access to Disney transportation: busses and boats connect Fort Wilderness to all the other Disney properties and parks.

Campground Review #52 Timberlane Campground outside of Philadelphia in Clarksboro, New Jersey

On this episode of Campground of the Week, we have a review of Timberlane Campground which is the closest campground to Philadelphia.  Located in Clarksboro, New Jersey, this is what we like to call a base camp: a great place to park your rig or pitch your tent when exploring an urban destination.

Timberlane is a private, family-owned campground and offers a surprising amount of natural beauty considering its proximity to the City of Brotherly Love. The amenities are not fancy, and some things could use updating, but they are sufficient for relaxing after a long day of enjoying the food and historical sites that Philadelphia has in spades.

Kerri explains why Rafter J Bar Ranch might just be her favorite campground ever. Yes, that’s right…EVER. The tall pine trees, scenic views, and lovely amenities won her family over during their stay in the Black Hills.

This campground has an unusual feature though–there are 6 distinct campsite areas, and it is important to know the differences so you chose the best one for your family. Kerri describes all the areas in detail, so listen before you book:

  • Main Camp
  • Base Camp
  • Line Camp
  • Ranch Camp
  • The Island
  • Lower Ranch Camp

Kerri also discusses some of the highlights of the grounds, including the hiking and biking trail that runs adjacent to the campground. Add in a lovely pool, solid bathhouses, and full hook ups and we understand why Kerri is gaga for the Rafter J Bar Ranch.

Even though you could while away your days at Rafter J Bar Ranch, this campground is located in the heart of a bucket-list RV destination, the Black Hills of South Dakota. Guests are within minutes of:
