Located on the eastern shore of Virginia, Sunset Beach Resort is a fantastic addition to camping in the Chesapeake Bay region. On this episode of Campground of the Week, we discuss our five-day visit to this new campground where we spend tons of time relaxing on the beach and exploring the surrounding area.
Sunset Beach Resort is owned by Bluewater Development, a private company that also manages Massey’s Landing in Delaware and the Chincoteague KOA in Virginia. From what we have seen so far, they are doing a great job bringing the hotel resort point of view to their campground properties.
Sunset Beach Resort is a very large campground with several hundred sites mostly for transient visitors. However there were a few rows of seasonal sites as well. Most of the sites are back in, but tune in to here our suggestions for the best four sites at the campground (rare pull thrus and easy to miss on the map!!!). Prices are reasonable for beachfront camping, ranging from $43 to $85 dollars depending on the season and day of the week.
This campground is a true resort property with onsite beach, pool, and full-service restaurant and bar area. Other amenities include:
- campground store and gift shop
- breakfast and lunch cafe
- new, clean bathhouses and laundry facilities
- golf cart rentals
- daily activities and themed weekends
